"BETTER TOGETHER THAN APART"

OVER 100 YEARS OF HISTORY

The three congregations that comprise Greater Greene County Presbyterian Ministry are each over 100 years old.  First Presbyterian in Jefferson celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2017.  Each congregation was started the 1800S by faithful individuals that believed in God, worship, education, and world wide ministry.

CREATING SOMETHING NEW

In 2017, the Presbyterian congregations in Greene County chose to combine aspects of their ministries. The three churches share staff and work cooperatively  throughout the church year, especially on large projects.

MINGLING MINISTRIES

An advantage  to sharing ministry between the three churches is the opportunity to make a greater impact on Greene County and beyond. Since the creation of the Greater Greene County Presbyterian Ministry,  activities have included

  • Serving over 400 bikers as  RAGBRAI (REGISTERS ANNUAL GREAT BIKE RIDE ACROSS IOWA) stayed in Jefferson
  • Collecting  4800 cans of soup for distribution to the local food pantry, Pine Ridge  Reservation in South Dakota,  a homeless shelter in Fort Dodge, a childcare center and Congregate Meals in Jefferson
  • A pancake super to raise funds for flood disaster assistance in Western Iowa and Nebraska

LOOKING TOWARD THE FUTURE

EXCITEMENT!    ENTHUSIASM!      HIGH EXPECTATIONS!

As the Greater Greene County Presbyterian Ministry looks to the future of each of the individual churches and the greater ministry, hopes are high.  The congregations look forward to new challenges, new opportunities, new missions and new ministries.  Want to join us?  Check out our “CONTACT US” page.
